From the dam to
the playground

In Burundi, there are approximately 4000 homeless children living in the streets who frequent the local dam during the day to salvage for items to sell for food. Most of these children have a nuclear or extended family, but are still forced to fend for themselves because their relatives do not have the means or capacity to care for even their most basic needs.

When well-accompanied and supported, they can positively evolve and reintegrate into society, however, sadly this is the case for few. In Burundi, street children are a sacrificed generation.
